The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has just announced that Thailand is to be ranked as the top 20 countries worldwide by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller from the 33rd Readers’ Choice Awards of 2020 with Thailand receiving a total score of 92.62 which puts them at 7th place with Chiang Mai ranked as the 2nd based Top 10 Small Cities and Ko Pha Ngan in 3rd place in the Top 5 category of Best Islands in Asia.
Thailand is still miraculously the choice destination for most people. This is especially comforting and reassuring for the country as the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic has left a crippling blow to the international travel industry and tourism as a whole worldwide.
The Condé Nast Traveller, the Readers’ Choice Awards 2020 is the first time, that any selections made by voters has been done whilst no one else has travelled. The voters find comfort in these names, knowing that there is still a connection and longing to return to these destinations one day, as the thought and memories of these places had brought them reassuring and the bond still going strong despite these months of absence in travel.
Many readers of the magazines have thus express their desires and intentions to return to these classic places, either as a returning tourist or simply as someone influenced by the knowledge that there places once brought joy to many people and to experience it once again.
