Though foreign tourism has taken quite the dive, the Thai domestic sector is still booming regardless. Starting from the beginning of January 2021, ferries to Samui have reported extra services required and it shows in the economy of Phuket as hotels as well as other local tourism businesses are subsisting off of the domestic trade. For now, it appears the country is doing well with Phuket still drawing on more local tourism to help keep it afloat, as the people flock for the triumvirate of new years celebrated here in Thailand, from the New Years, to the Chinese New Years and the upcoming Thai New Years as well.
